ST2

The ST2 programme also referred to as GP+ or Integrated post (ITP) consists of 3 days at a general practice, (see our GP practices here). and 2 days at a clinical attachment within a service relevant to the education and training needs of GPs working in areas of deprivation. GP+ posts are split into two 6 month rotations.

Turning Point- Substance Misuse

Location: Oldham OR Rochdale 

Hours: 2 Full Days  

Placement:

Turning Point provide drug and alcohol services across England and Wales. They provide residential detox and rehabilitation, psychological support and intervention, and educational training, along with many more innovative services.

Job Description:

GP+ Trainees will be based at an Outpatient substance abuse clinic where they will focus on both routine and emergency assessment. All Trainees will be guaranteed clinical support.

Spectrum - Styal Prison 

Location:  Cheshire, Stockport

Hours: 2 Full Days  

Placement:

Spectrum CIC provides healthcare for HMP and YOI Styal. They are responsible for primary care, mental health (working with Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust), drug treatment services (working with Lifeline), dental and optical services. They are a not-for-profit, social enterprise, committed to giving everyone the right care, at the right time, by the right professional.

Job Description:

GP+ Trainees post will be split between primary care providing GP clinics, reception clinics for new admissions and substance misuse clinics. All trainees will be given clinical support and supervision including assistance from an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP).

Shared Health - Homeless Families

Location:  Hawthorn Medical Centre Manchester and  Healthy Gems Hub Oldham

Hours: 2 Full Days

Job Description:

A relatively new placement created by Shared Health. Trainees will split their time working between scoping the health needs of families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and providing health literacy advice to families or single mothers. Trainees at post will have a Clinical supervisor throughout their placement including a Focused Care Practitioner to assist them. 

Psychological Medicine

Locations  Royal Oldham Hospital, Hollins House Stockport, Fairfield Hospital OR Birch Hill Hospital

Hours: 2 Full Days  

Placement:

This placement provides mental health services that are included as part of the integrated pain pathway, or secondary care psychological medicine department. They see individuals with complex health needs that cause significant distress. This placement is a mandatory requirement, all ST2s will be posted at a Mental Health post during either 1st or 2nd term.

Job Description:

GP+ Trainees  placed at this post will include working in supervised pain clinics with opportunities to collaborative with therapists and physiotherapists. Trainees will be able to develop their own case load within these services and will have a clinical supervisor to assist them throughout their training.
